This is definitely a digression into something much more mellow and different then we’re used to. But London producer Jon Hopkins is impossible to ignore, with a deep beating, minimal style that takes his audiences on a journey with each and every track. With the announcement of his new album, Immunity, which will be happening June 4th. Jon Hopkins’ music is slow to build, but impossible to not be drawn into. With a dynamic array of constantly shifting, appearing and disappearing layers, he creates a musical canvas that simply begs your mind to become lost in. This new track, “Open Eye Signal” is our little glimpse into what the new album holds.

The holidays are here and I couldn’t be more excited about this beautiful Saturday that awaits us. But it’s always good to get your day kicking. When I wrote the genres in the brackets for this post, it took me a while to decide how I should classify these three new tracks . Local Philly producer The Noise Monkey caught our attention a while ago with his unique sound he simply calls “Monkeystep”, and with every new track he puts out he touches so many different sounds and styles, I think the name is very fitting. The first song is his entry into Zomboy‘s “Here to Stay” remix contest, and if you are diggin’ that Monkeystep, be sure you give this Philly native a vote starting April 9! The other two songs are both refreshing and uplifting, yet still have that perfect amount of funk and filth. They were posted as FREE downloads that seem to be sparked by the cold weather and the anticipation of spring, and they sure are getting me excited for the coming months! Also, we’ve included The Noise Monkey’s recent remix of Au5, Auratic, and I.Y.F.F.E.‘s “Lucky”, which is sure to satisfy any craving for funk you may have had! Alright, so who here knows Vanic!? It’s alright if you don’t, I was unfamiliar myself, but that tune’s about to change because this Vancouver producer knows how to lay down some tunes. He’s got a hard-hitting, yet still quite melodic style, somewhat along the lines of artists like Adventure Club, Seven Lions or Sound Remedy, but he also delves into the heavy a bit more at times. On top of that his song selection for remixes is absolutely impeccable, but not only that, he also delivers absolute fire each time he chooses a song to take on. Then there’s the matter of his originals, which are just as satisfying. We’ve put together a nice little collection of his tracks here, including his BRAND NEW remix of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs‘ track “Gold Lion”. Enjoy!

We’ve got an interesting collaboration for you guys here today from two East Coast artists. The first is one you’re probably familiar with if you’ve been with us a while: North Carolina producer and musician Cry Wolf. He’s been on our radar for a while now, and actually just signed with Le Castle Vania‘s label, Always Never Records. Having collaborated on this track, which is released through the new label, with local New Jersey producer Aylen. The influence of the two artists blend together in a way that creates a very unique and original sound, almost like an upbeat trancey anthem, except with this deep, churning level of bass-filled filth grumbling below the synth line. And of course you can snag it up FREE! Get at it!

2013 Festival Preview: Camp Bisco – Full Lineup Announcement!!

Easily one of the most premier festivals for the Northeast, Camp Bisco, curated of course by The Disco Biscuits, will return this year to Indian Lookout Country Club in beautiful upstate New York. The festival will take place from July 11th-13th. We were lucky enough to make it up to Camp last year for our first Bisco experience, and to say “pleased” would be a bit of an understatement. With two massive main stages, setup side by side for rapid change-off between acts, and two dance tents, the festival has more than enough to offer; not to mention the late night,, silent disco DJ tent as well. This year the festival promises to return with just as much force, as well as plenty of new surprises, and definitely plenty of smiling faces. The lineup this year is even more eclectic and jaw-dropping as ever, boasting jam bands STS9, Lotus, Umphrey’s McGee, The Werks, Twiddle and Zoogma (and yes of course The Biscuits); a few very impressive indie acts including Passion Pit, Animal Collective and Dan Deacon; and of course a premier list of DJs and electronic acts including Bassnectar, Flux Pavilion, Boys Noize, UZ, Aeroplane, Baauer, Break Science, Cherub, Crizzly, Eskmo, Gramatik, Heroes + Villains, KOAN Sound, Manic Focus, Paper Diamond, Toro Y Moi, Wick-It the Instigator and lots more. This year looks to be an amazing year to spend a wonderful weekend in upstate New York; hope you’ll be camping with us!

Now, a little over a month later, I’m happy to be bringing you the official remixes of the tracks from the EP. The Remix album features appearances from 5 amazing bass producers, including J. It’s been a while now since the electro and dubstep king Skrillex has put out a full new release, but today he changed that tune with the release of his FREE new 3-track piece, the Leaving EP. We’re all used to some really heavy bass from Sonny at this point I think, but he delivers something a bit different on this. Now, don’t get me wrong; it’s plenty fast-paced and dancey, but not as much grimey bass as I’m used to from Skrillex. Of course, this really is the complete opposite of a bad thing, and I think this type of release is exactly what he needed. Let us know your thoughts; and as always, enjoy!!
