DYNOHUNTER is a group that is still rather new to me, but that being said, I’m getting myself acquainted rather rapidly. The three-piece jamtronica act gets my ears smiling and my feet kicking with each and every track. Their last release, the Pilgrimage EP, was a sure sign that these guys were to be kept an eye on. As a result, we have this fresh new track from the Colorado-based group. It’s called “Gotta Do Wit It” and is a energetic new nu-disco style track, still maintaining plenty of funk and jazz elements. So we just posted the Sonic Bloom 2013lineup and festival announcement, and among their list of incredible artists is a man that has been doing up the breakbeat game for a long time now. I am of course referring to the great ill.Gates. The San Francisco native producer has done work with many incredible producers, including the mighty Bassnectar, as well as Beats Antique, Samples, Opiuo, Datsik and plenty more. I think that list of collaborations actually gives a good representation of ill.Gates’ versatility and production prowess. He covers anything from dubstep, to glitch-hop, to straight breakbeat, hip-hop beats, and just about anything in between. He’s giving away this new “Re:Mix:Tape” completely FREE, which is truly an anomaly as the mix is packed full of fresh, bassed-out tunes.
Okay, so I am here today to deliver the welcoming news of a beautiful festival, in the far away amazing world of Colorado. That festival would be Sonic Bloom, and while it may be a bit of a track for our Philadelphia readers, the festival represents an aspect of the electronic music that we don’t see a lot of representation for here in The City of Brotherly Love. The lineup displays a wide array of music that could be classified as anywhere from psy-trance, to dub, glitch-hop, electrofunk, simply bass, or just about anything else in that spectrum that comes to mind. The festival will be taking place from June 13th-16th this Summer, in it’s homespot of Shadow’s Ranch in Georgetown Colorado. With a whopping array of artists including Opiuo, VibeSquaD, Random Rab, Minnesota, The Polish Ambassador, Bluetech, Orchard Lounge, Phutureprimitive, TRUTH, Andreilien (previously known as Heyoka), ill.Gates, Wick-It the Instigator, Love & Light, Govinda, Thriftworks, Robotic Pirate Moneky, Unlimited Aspect (Unlimited Gravity and Project Aspect), Russ Liquid, Cry Wolf and still plenty more, this festival bleeds an amazing time. This release has seen the light of day for a bit now, but it’s been looping periodically on my computer almost for a week now, so I feel it still warrants a post. And while some of you have already stumbled upon the new Thundercolor EP from Virginia-based production team Coyote Kisses, I am sure there are a few of you, at least, out there who will be very pleased after giving this album a listen. The style is mellow, yet far from minimal, and psychedelic in a dreamy and melodic, yet welcoming way. Comparable to artists like Seven Lions, Ghostland Observatory, andMichal Menert– I know that sounds like a confusion fusion- the group still remains far removed from anything I can say I have yet to hear. 5 out of 5 stars, this is freaking awesome.

The Santa Cruz producer just dropped this fresh new glitch-hop track on as a little thank you leading up to the release of his new Strange Nights EP. Oh man is it a beautiful day for music. Let’s take a break from the heavy, cause I’ve got some real nice funky tunes for you guys here. I’m sure many of you already know this, but Philadelphia is actually the home of talented producer The Polish Ambassador. He’s been throwing down groovy sets here in The City of Brotherly Love for years now, and I think I can speak for most people when I say it’s good to see him starting to get some serious national and global recognition. His newest album, Ecozoic, was released just a few days ago and features a humongous roster of new grooves. It’s actually a double album, so there’s plenty to choose from, and plenty of time to pass while jamming out to these funky tunes. Not to mention, TPA is actually being generous enough to give away the album at the “name your price” album. So if you’re broke, that means you can snag it for FREE; but hey, show some love for your local talent and give this man the support he deserves! Enjoy!
I was just thinking the other day about how we haven’t shared anything new from Colorado producer Rodway in a quick minute. So this new track is definitely a pleasant surprise, and absolutely worth sharing. As you can expect from Rodway, this track has a mellow dubstep feel, but there’s definitely some showing of influence with the recent eruption of glitch-hop in the West and Midwest. Either way, it makes for one heck of a tune- and a FREE tune at that!
Alright time to get funky. I’ve got one for you here from a relatively unknown producer, but one that absolutely crushes it on the production. His name is Ωhmen and he hails from the neighbor city of Baltimore. This tune, “80′s Skank” has a fresh funkstep feel. It’s really like a fusion of glitch-hop and dubstep, but with plenty of thumpin’ bass and lots of grooving guitar. Plus it’s FREE! Enjoy!
It’s Funkadelphia’s Funky Friday! Unofficially, but hey why not, because we’ve got one heck of a fresh, funky new tune for you guys here. And it couldn’t be a more beautiful, sunny, Spring Friday to kick out the jams. I’m sure many of you are fans of bass duo Love & Light and their grooving glitch-hop sound. So why not check out this equally funking remix from friend Psymbionic.
