So we just posted the Sonic Bloom 2013 lineup and festival announcement, and among their list of incredible artists is a man that has been doing up the breakbeat game for a long time now. I am of course referring to the great ill.Gates. The San Francisco native producer has done work with many incredible producers, including the mighty Bassnectar, as well as Beats Antique, Samples, Opiuo, Datsik and plenty more. I think that list of collaborations actually gives a good representation of ill.Gates’ versatility and production prowess. He covers anything from dubstep, to glitch-hop, to straight breakbeat, hip-hop beats, and just about anything in between. He’s giving away this new “Re:Mix:Tape” completely FREE, which is truly an anomaly as the mix is packed full of fresh, bassed-out tunes.

Okay, so I am here today to deliver the welcoming news of a beautiful festival, in the far away amazing world of Colorado. That festival would be Sonic Bloom, and while it may be a bit of a track for our Philadelphia readers, the festival represents an aspect of the electronic music that we don’t see a lot of representation for here in The City of Brotherly Love. The lineup displays a wide array of music that could be classified as anywhere from psy-trance, to dub, glitch-hop, electrofunk, simply bass, or just about anything else in that spectrum that comes to mind. The festival will be taking place from June 13th-16th this Summer, in it’s homespot of Shadow’s Ranch in Georgetown Colorado. With a whopping array of artists including Opiuo, VibeSquaD, Random Rab, Minnesota, The Polish Ambassador, Bluetech, Orchard Lounge, Phutureprimitive, TRUTH, Andreilien (previously known as Heyoka), ill.Gates, Wick-It the Instigator, Love & Light, Govinda, Thriftworks, Robotic Pirate Moneky, Unlimited Aspect (Unlimited Gravity and Project Aspect), Russ Liquid, Cry Wolf and still plenty more, this festival bleeds an amazing time. Coyote Kisses - Thundercolor EP

This release has seen the light of day for a bit now, but it’s been looping periodically on my computer almost for a week now, so I feel it still warrants a post. And while some of you have already stumbled upon the new Thundercolor EP from Virginia-based production team Coyote Kisses, I am sure there are a few of you, at least, out there who will be very pleased after giving this album a listen. The style is mellow, yet far from minimal, and psychedelic in a dreamy and melodic, yet welcoming way. Comparable to artists like Seven Lions, Ghostland Observatory, and Michal Menert – I know that sounds like a confusion fusion- the group still remains far removed from anything I can say I have yet to hear. 5 out of 5 stars, this is freaking awesome.

Not too long ago, we posted the first and title track from Dasein‘s new EP, titled “Purple Stuff”. Well now the entire The Purple Stuff EP is here, featuring two other brand new unheard tracks. And yes, they’re just as funky as ever. Live instrumental elements plague Dasein’s music, with guitar chords groovin’ over deep, mellow wobbles and funky, dancing synthesizers. We’ve had our eye on GRiZ for a long time now, and I can say with full sincerity it’s amazing to finally see him getting some serious love. His opening set at Basslights was the first chance I had to catch him; all I have to say is, if you enjoy his production, then I’m sure you’ll be glad to know his live performance easily surpasses what he does in the studio, which is already stunning. Well the Detroit native, and now Denver local just put a brand new remix of Kill Paris‘ track “Slap Me”. It’s got the classic GRiZ touch of funk and glitch-hop that we’ve all come to love, and it certainly made my Friday night better. Let it do the same for you.
