This one managed to slip passed us doing our travels to Arkansas, but it’s an undeniably awesome track from an undeniably awesome producer. Russ Liquid has found his way on to our radars, and for good reason. The 1320 Records artist has been making a lot of noise with his production, which tends to crossover between dubstep and glitch-hop. This new track, “Butterfly Moonlight” is a FREE one from the California; nice and chilled out, but plenty of wubs and wobs to get you going. Enjoy!
With the Summer of 2013′s festival season now in full gear, we have effectively have a hefty list of local and national festivals we’re looking forward to with serious intensity. One of the most anticipated for us would have to be this year’s Big Dub Music Festival, held at Four Quarter’s Farm in Artemas, Pennsylvania. This year’s lineup features an eclectic group of everything from filthy dubstep, to mellowed out hip-hop beats, the trans-versing goodnesss of glitch-hop, and just about any other variation on the genre you might be able to name. One of these acts we’re truly excited to see is the mighty production duo in action once again. The Atlanta-based act has been hard at work lately, dropping plenty of awesome new remixes for the Summer festival season, keeping their sets refreshing, and just plain fresh. This one’s another FREE download, courtesy of that good ol’ Southern hospitality!
Schlang is the new collaborative project from Philadelphia producer Space Jesus and his partner in crime, Boston producer Supersillyus. The two have come together the bring us a truly unique and mind-awakening project that’s sure to leave the mind drifting through space. Schlang has just released a teaser for their first track, “Plus or Minus”, as well as a group of tour dates for this Summer. Now this song is supposedly close to a full 10 minutes, so this 5 minute preview is just a small glimpse into the psychedelic adventure that awaits us. Enjoy!
Here’s a release I have literally been on the edge of my seat waiting for, for quite some time. And oh my has Calvertron delivered, exceeding expectations and taking his bass game to a whole other level once again. With his new 50,000 Watts EP he covers everything from his classic heavy dubstep assaults, plenty of hopping moombahcore, some head-banging drumstep and drum & bass, and even some really effective trap and trapstep. Calvertron is one producer I feel I can absolutely always count on to deliver the filth. Please, I urge you, pick up this EP. We’ve got a few clips for you below, but you aren’t doing yourself justice unless you grab this release.
PLS DNT STP is checking in with a crunchy, FREE, new drumstep remix to kick off the Summer. The Philadelphia production seems to always be working on tracks, which is great because there’s always plenty of great opportunities to catch them in action putting their new material to work. Their live sets kick hard, and this is another great one for the arsenal.
Summer seems to finally be in full groove and we could not be more excited. We’ve been real busy getting our bags packed for the tenth annual Wakarusa Music Festivalthis upcoming weekend. But you know what that means? It means, time to get blasted with a bunch of hot new tunes before we hit the road. Kicking it off, we have one from the Bass Gods; namely, Bassnectar here. And what an awesome choice for a remix; this time he’s taken on the mighty Primus(“PRIMUS SUCKS!”), to deliver a gut-smashing, brain-blasting, face-melting bass overload of an attack on us. I don’t think this could get any heavier, enjoy!
Okay, so I am here today to deliver the welcoming news of a beautiful festival, in the far away amazing world of Colorado. That festival would be Sonic Bloom, and while it may be a bit of a track for our Philadelphia readers, the festival represents an aspect of the electronic music that we don’t see a lot of representation for here in The City of Brotherly Love. The lineup displays a wide array of music that could be classified as anywhere from psy-trance, to dub, glitch-hop, electrofunk, simply bass, or just about anything else in that spectrum that comes to mind. The festival will be taking place from June 13th-16th this Summer, in it’s homespot of Shadow’s Ranch in Georgetown Colorado. With a whopping array of artists including Opiuo, VibeSquaD, Random Rab, Minnesota, The Polish Ambassador, Bluetech, Orchard Lounge, Phutureprimitive, TRUTH, Andreilien (previously known as Heyoka), ill.Gates, Wick-It the Instigator, Love & Light, Govinda, Thriftworks, Robotic Pirate Moneky, Unlimited Aspect (Unlimited Gravity and Project Aspect), Russ Liquid, Cry Wolf and still plenty more, this festival bleeds an amazing time. Just check out the 2012 festival recap below, as well as a featured playlist with music from artists exclusively on the 2013 lineup!! And be sure to hurry up because tickets are going fast!
Rekoil has to be one of my favorite young producers at this point in the game. He never has anything negative to say, a like a lot of the Firepower Recordscrew, remains pretty reserved. But when it comes to producing, he sure knows how to shatter some bass. This is his remix of “Fully Blown”, originally by Firepower head Datsik. Some of you may have already heard this track, but this is a fresh mix down from Rekoil with some better sound quality and a few adjustments. Plus it comes with a FREE download. Enjoy!
Two huge Firepower Recordshere have collaborated on this brand new extremely filthy- and yes, extremely funny- track. It’s the homies Getter and MUST DIE!, both of which it’s no secret that we’re big fans of here at Funkadelphia. Finally Philadelphia will have the pleasure of hosting the great Getter at SoundGarden Hall on Thursday, June 7th, and oh man am I excited for the filth fest he’s going to deliver. Don’t expect the most quality tune here, but definitely still expect some good laughs and some good whomps, and a good ol’ FREE download!!
Anyone else feeling mellow on this beautiful Summer night? Anyone else trying to get their funky groove on? Well let me tell you, LabRat knows the feeling. The Santa Cruz producer just dropped this fresh new glitch-hop track on as a little thank you leading up to the release of his new Strange Nights EP. If you haven’t already noticed, the glitch-hop scene is making some serious moves in the bass and EDM world, and we’re all about it. I hope you guys are with us here, because this production shows off some serious talent. Oh, did we mention it’s FREE!? Enjoy!
