Metaform – The Electric Mist [Synthpop//Hip-Hop]

Metaform - The Electric Mist

This is by no means new music, but it’s still awesome music, and less known than it should be. I myself just discovered Metaform, a California producer and musician who creates his own beats and lays his own vocals on top. His most recent album was called Electric Mist, and it moves away from more traditional hip-hop beats into some other more experimental sounds within the electronic music world. It results in some seriously knocking tunes, some of which have been repeating on my computer for a straight day now. The most mesmerizing thing about this album is its span across the plane of electronic music, covering glitch-hop, dub, drum & bass, even some trap, and also still taking it down to groovy synthpop tunes that resonate an essence of such acts as Cherub. If you enjoy chilled out rhythms, then don’t let this one slip through your fingers!

MitiS – “Endeavors” (FREE DL!!) [Drum&Bass//Drumstep]

It was a bit of a long weekend for us here at Funkadelphia, and we’ve been recovering all Monday morning so far. So this, FREE!, new tune from MitiS has been doing us pretty good. It’s got that light, melodic, almost airy feel to it that I’ve come to expect and love from the rising Philadelphia producer. At the same time, he turns up the BPM to that fast-paced drum & bass/drumstep goodness to get your head really rocking. Be sure to pick it up below if ya dig. Enjoy!

If you enjoy and are looking for some more MitiS jams, be sure to check out our artist spotlight HERE!

AK1200 – 10 FREE Unreleased Tracks

So this isn’t really an album per say… but it’s not a single track either; rather, it’s a collection of old, unreleased track from AK1200. I think it’s always a really cool, good thing when artists release stuff like this for their fans. Even if it isn’t their most quality work, it shows the fan some of the ideas the producer has been toying with, and generally just some interesting variety that you might not hear on an official release from that artist. This is certainly the case with this AK1200 release, the exception being that a good amount of these tracks are actually pure fire! If you’re into the good old DnB, drum & bass, then definitely give this one a listen. Enjoy!

Savoy & Heather Bright – “We Are the Sun” (Original Mix + Remix)

Alright, so it’s been a while since Savoy has really hyped the shit out of a song. I remember last Summer, their track “I’m In Need” got a ton of attention from the EDM world before exploding to the top of the Beatport chart upon it’s actual release. Well, we posted a preview of this new gem in our first Snippet Sunday ever last week, and now the full track and a remix are out. As always, I’m more partial to dubstep than electro house, so this Savoy remix on top of the original was a really awesome surprise. The two tracks are pretty much the same through the Heather Bright sections of the song, but instead of that boppin’ electro house drop in the original mix, the remix offers some crazy filthy wobbles in the same way “I’m In Need Did”. So whether you’re craving some house or some filth, Savoy’s got ‘em both for you today. Enjoy!

Wick-It the Instigator – “Victory Dance”

Alright, I gotta apologize. We’ve been being a bit lazy lately, but that’s only because it’s been finals week and we’ve been real busy.

Excuses aside, let’s move on to some awesome new music. Wick-It the Instigator should not be a strange name to many of you at this point as we’ve covered many of his new releases. I’m truly honest when I say I’ve never heard a  track from Wick-It that disappointed me. With this new one, “Victory Dance”, he turns it up and gets wobbly on so drumstep. This tune is just as wicked as all of his; exactly what we would expect. And as always, it’s free! Enjoy!

Terravita – “60 Minute Mix” + Interview with Prototype Radio

Already, now let’s go in a bit of a different direction with this next mix. First we posted a mix from a smaller, up and coming artist. Now we’ll look at a new one from a more established artist, Terravita. Now, what’s cool about this, is that we also get a little bonus interview tacked on the end of this mix. Coincidentally, the trio known as Terravita are also based out of Boston. This new mix has some really heavy hitting tunes, including some brand new ones from Terravita themselves. Definitely worth a good listen.

Electric Daisy Carnival (Las Vegas) 2012 Lineup

Electric Daisy Carnival is an annual weekend of madness that occurs in Las Vegas each year. I guess they really felt like they had to step up their game after seeing the lineup Ultra put together this year, because they absolutely crushed it on this lineup. I have to say, it seems like Ultra had more of a focus on electro and house in general, whereas EDC seems to be really dubstep heavy with this lineup… I guess that’s why I’m so amazed by. Alas, EDC will be competing with Bonnaroo this year, so while I urge you to buy tickets to what seems to be another massive EDM festival, don’t be too hasty too (that ‘Roo lineup is nothing to scoff at).

Gemini – Fire Inside EP

This is one we’ve really been anticipating. The release date on Gemini’s Fire Inside EP got pushed back at least once, so we’re really excited to finally have final versions of all these songs out. I caught Gemini on his first US tour back in the very beginning of March (with KOAN Sound), and he absolutely blew me away. A while ago, Gemini dropped the track “Elevate”, which got him some really well-deserved attention (we’re including that track as a bonus). Now he’s building off that hype and has come through with this huge new four-song EP. Enjoy!

Tyr – “Perfect Match” + Artist Spotlight

Tyr is a producer out of Las Vegas, NV. He really caught my attention because of an extremely unique sound. While I would say his sound is primarily dubstep, it really revolves around a wide variety of electronic genres, primarily within the realm of EDM. His bridges drum & bass, drumstep, electro house and hip-hop in many of his songs. This new one “Perfect Match” is pretty chilled out, but definitely still a good listen. I’m going to throw in his remix of Chuckie’s anthem “What Happens in Vegas”, just because it showcases his wompy side a bit more. If you like what you hear, show this man some love; you can download his ENTIRE HARD TIMES EP  FOR FREE BELOW! So with all that, we’re going to call this an artist spotlight; Tyr is definitely an artist on the up and come, so be sure to keep an eye out for his name in the future!

Modestep – “Show Me a Sign” + Official Video

Modestep put this one up on the UKF channel yesterday, which means no download for it yet. The good news it that the song is accompanied by this awesome music video. The music goes so well with the video, and the video really is truly amazing. Modestep is definitely someone I’m interested in, because they’re actually a band (similar to Pendulum), and not just a DJ – not that I have any problem with DJs, just a little interesting tidbit. Be sure to check this one out.
