Eptic – Mastermind EP [Dubstep//Drumstep]

Eptic - Mastermind EP

The bass music world has truly exploded over the passed few years, resulting in a wide spread of different approaches to different genres, and generally different sounds. But a few talented producers shown through the crowds of self-proclaimed “DJs” even early on, and still to this day deliver heavy doses of relentless filth. Eptic is undeniable one of these producers. The Belgian producer and Never Say Die Records artist’s newest release has finally officially hit the shelves. The Mastermind EP presents three heavy new tracks ranging from the dubstep to drumstep ranges, and of course a fourth obligatory trap song. This EP doesn’t come a moment too soon though, with Moonrise Festival just a month away, and Eptic now officially added to the lineup!!

MitiS – Born EP [Dubstep//Drum&Bass]

Mitis - Born EP

Oh Philly love, Philly love, what do we have for you today? None other than the great MitiS with a fresh new release for the world. The Philadelphia producer and DJ has been hard at work on his Born EP the passed few months. The first glimpse we had into the project was his track “Endeavors”, which left our jaws on the floor and our mouths watering. This EP definitely lives up to the MitiS standard, with that wistful bass sound that just makes you think everything’s going to awesome and happy. It’s bass that takes you to a better place. Enjoy guys!

Blood Diamonds – “Barcode (Figure Remix)” [Dubstep//Drumstep]

Figure2

I really feel as though Figure‘s been cranking ‘em out lately, but the man is absolutely relentless. It’s more a question of whether his work ethic or just the straight evilness of his music is more relentless. For this new remix, the drumstep king teamed up with OWSLA Records to bring you the release. It might seem like an odd combination at first- it certainly made us cock our heads for a second- but when it comes to evil, EVIL music, OWSLA certainly turns up the heat too. Not to mention, Blood Diamonds is one of the latest editions to the label — this track is actually taken off his new Barcode EP. Drumstep at it’s finest.

Metaform – The Electric Mist [Synthpop//Hip-Hop]

Metaform - The Electric Mist

This is by no means new music, but it’s still awesome music, and less known than it should be. I myself just discovered Metaform, a California producer and musician who creates his own beats and lays his own vocals on top. His most recent album was called Electric Mist, and it moves away from more traditional hip-hop beats into some other more experimental sounds within the electronic music world. It results in some seriously knocking tunes, some of which have been repeating on my computer for a straight day now. The most mesmerizing thing about this album is its span across the plane of electronic music, covering glitch-hop, dub, drum & bass, even some trap, and also still taking it down to groovy synthpop tunes that resonate an essence of such acts as Cherub. If you enjoy chilled out rhythms, then don’t let this one slip through your fingers!

Redhat – [ot]c[G]ah [EP] (FREE DL!!) [Glitch-Hop//Bass]

[ot]c[G}ah

Okay, now if you’re looking for something truly unique, than look no further. It’s always humbling to see how much local talent we have here in Philadelphia, and this new release from Psy-Fi Productions artist, Redhat, is a true testament to that statement. His production technique incorporates elements of glitch, hip-hop, bass, breakbeat, dub, and plenty of experimental influence as well. The [ot]c[G]ah EP is a total success in my mind, but “Gotcha” is definitely a standout track on the release. As always, enjoy!!

Destroid (Excision, Downlink & KJ Sawka) feat. Space Laces – “Wasteland” [Dubstep//Grime]

Looking over the site today I noticed there was something we forgot to post, but I simply cannot pass up the opportunity to post. It’s the newest release from live electronic dubstep/drumstep trio Destroid. The trio is officially composed of Excision, Downlink and drummer KJ Sawkabut this track also features an appearance from producer Space Laces (who actually had a remix on Excision’s X-Rated: The Remixes album). It’s hard to imagine how powerful a sound you would get when you combine the immense production power of Excision and Downlink, and then throw in the element of a live drummer, but “Wasteland” is truly the result and, oh, is it magnificent. Bass attack!!

MitiS – “Endeavors” (FREE DL!!) [Drum&Bass//Drumstep]

It was a bit of a long weekend for us here at Funkadelphia, and we’ve been recovering all Monday morning so far. So this, FREE!, new tune from MitiS has been doing us pretty good. It’s got that light, melodic, almost airy feel to it that I’ve come to expect and love from the rising Philadelphia producer. At the same time, he turns up the BPM to that fast-paced drum & bass/drumstep goodness to get your head really rocking. Be sure to pick it up below if ya dig. Enjoy!

Phantogram – “Lines (Architekt Remix)” (FREE DL!!) [Drum&Bass]

It’s always cool to see producers stepping out of their comfort zone and trying something new. And while Architekt is already an incredibly diverse producer- having experimented with many bass genres including dubstep, moombahcore, electro and glitch- one thing we haven’t heard a lot of from his is some good, old-fashioned drum & bass. As always, you can pick this one up completely FREE from the local, Philadelphia producer. So crank up those speakers and get to it!

Flume – “Sleepless (Run DMT Remix)” (FREE DL!!) [Drum & Bass//Drumstep]

This is a pretty unlikely combination, but the two work fantastically together. Flume has been blowing up lately, and I dare say we might not be far from having him pop into the US sometime. On the other hand, Run DMT was just in the City of Brotherly love a mere 4 days ago! He was doing it up at Glow Jam 2 this passed Saturday with ETC!ETC! and DubsefThat was my first time seeing Run DMT in action; and while I’ve been a big fan for a while now, it was truly gratifying to seem him absolutely destroy The Blockley that night. So when I logged on my computer yesterday and saw this new remix from the Texas producer (of a Flume track nonetheless!!) I almost went completely beserk. Of course it helps that this track is FREE; enjoy!!

Terravita – “metROIDS” [FREE DL!] + FREE BONUS!!

I’ve always been a really big fan of the Boston dubstep trip that is Terravita. Ever since I heard their remix of “Avril 14th” by Aphex Twin (we’ve also featured their track “Faceless Butcher” and remix of “Teach Me How to Dougie”) I was completely hooked. These guys can dish out the grime like no other. Being totally honest, they’ve got some of the nicest wobbles in the game too. Terravita mixes these elements of heavy dubstep filth while still maintaining a real good element of melodic goodness to back it up. I think this track is a perfect showcase for what I’m saying. Terravita absolutely destroys it on this track, get on that FREE DOWNLOAD!!

P.S. You can catch these guys on Datsik‘s upcoming Firepower Tour!
