The electronic music world has been progressing in strides lately, and it’s given way to some of the most incredible tunes probably to ever grace the ears of mankind. Well Australian producer Flume is officially checking in with a solid contribution. At this year’s Wakarusa Music Festival, we heard this first track dropped on crowds multiple times, much to everyone’s pleasure. It’s a brand new- and FREE!- edit of Rustie track “Slasherr”, and features of bass-blasting trap feel that’s undeniably feel-good. Then just this morning he hit us with yet another one, a remix of a Disclosure track, this time featuring a more downtempo and glitch-hop feel, but still tons of energy and plenty of groovy-ness. 2013 Festival Preview: Sonic Bloom – Full Lineup Announcement!!

Okay, so I am here today to deliver the welcoming news of a beautiful festival, in the far away amazing world of Colorado. That festival would be Sonic Bloom, and while it may be a bit of a track for our Philadelphia readers, the festival represents an aspect of the electronic music that we don’t see a lot of representation for here in The City of Brotherly Love. The lineup displays a wide array of music that could be classified as anywhere from psy-trance, to dub, glitch-hop, electrofunk, simply bass, or just about anything else in that spectrum that comes to mind. The festival will be taking place from June 13th-16th this Summer, in it’s homespot of Shadow’s Ranch in Georgetown Colorado. With a whopping array of artists including Opiuo, VibeSquaD, Random Rab, Minnesota, The Polish Ambassador, Bluetech, Orchard Lounge, Phutureprimitive, TRUTH, Andreilien (previously known as Heyoka), ill.Gates, Wick-It the Instigator, Love & Light, Govinda, Thriftworks, Robotic Pirate Moneky, Unlimited Aspect (Unlimited Gravity and Project Aspect), Russ Liquid, Cry Wolf and still plenty more, this festival bleeds an amazing time. This right here, is far from your typical daily dose of bass. It’s more like a daily overdose. Now, let me say: where my metal heads at? Zardonic is an intense bass producer very realistically probably blows out a few windows in his house/apartment every time he’s working on a new track. “Intense” does not even begin to describe this track, but hey, if you like it really filthy, then you probably couldn’t be happier with this one. In announcing his new upcoming remix album, Far Beyond Bass – The Vulgar Remixes, Zardonic decided to drop a FREE new track on us to get us hyped. Well it worked.

It’s Funkadelphia’s Funky Friday! Unofficially, but hey why not, because we’ve got one heck of a fresh, funky new tune for you guys here. And it couldn’t be a more beautiful, sunny, Spring Friday to kick out the jams. I’m sure many of you are fans of bass duo Love & Light and their grooving glitch-hop sound. So why not check out this equally funking remix from friend Psymbionic. Festival Recap: Boombox feat. Datsik, Markus Schulz, Torro Torro, Lazy Rich, At Dawn We Rage & More!

So this passed weekend the Funkadelphia crew made the pilgrimage out to Tussey Mountain in Pennsylvania for the first annual Boombox Music Festival. The festival was put on by Philly’s own Art of Electronica and lasted all day Saturday, April 13th. We made the trip out to pay tribute to our bass head selves, but had plenty of time to check all sorts of great music through the day. To kick start our day, we headed over to catch the homie At Dawn We Rage, who seems to have become a frequent flyer of the Philly area. Although only one could make it, ADWR is actually a production duo, whose style combines dubstep along with drumstep and some really deep ambient tones. Of course the highlights of the night had to be Datsik and Crizzly, who brought two very different bass heavy sets to the main stage. Crizzly was doing his “crunkstep” thing, mixing in plenty of fresh trap tunes; while Datsik brought the firepower (pun intended) to the stage, smashing the crowd with filthy track after filthy track. We also had the chance to check out other headliner Markus Schulz, who brought an interesting housey vibe to the main stage. Other great performers from the day included Lazy Rich, Torro Torro, and of course plenty more! If you were there partying with us, be sure to check out our photos from the festival below!

When you get a group of talented producers together to work on a collaborative project, the result is almost always impeccable. LowRIDERz is the brainchild of three massive producers in the bass music world: An-ten-nae, Laura Low and Auberon. Together the three have been creating glitched out rhythms that’ll get you groovin’ before you even blink your eyes. The California production supergroup has just put out their new Unplug from the Machine EP, along with a brand new, FREE!, remix of Macklemore & Ryan Lewis‘ “Thrift Shop”. It’s enough music to leave you stunned for a while, so I’ll just let you get started.

That’s right, we still got more new tracks for you today; this one from the mighty Paper Diamond. The Colorado native was just here in Philadelphia Saturday night along with Excision and Vaski, at what was easily one of the most epic shows we’ve yet to see this year. Paper Diamond had his own stage production with him, and threw together one undoubtedly impressive set, leaving it safe to say he’s about as skilled behind the decks as he is on that incredible production software of his. Metaform – The Electric Mist [Synthpop//Hip-Hop]

This is by no means new music, but it’s still awesome music, and less known than it should be. I myself just discovered Metaform, a California producer and musician who creates his own beats and lays his own vocals on top. His most recent album was called Electric Mist, and it moves away from more traditional hip-hop beats into some other more experimental sounds within the electronic music world. It results in some seriously knocking tunes, some of which have been repeating on my computer for a straight day now. The most mesmerizing thing about this album is its span across the plane of electronic music, covering glitch-hop, dub, drum & bass, even some trap, and also still taking it down to groovy synthpop tunes that resonate an essence of such acts as Cherub. If you enjoy chilled out rhythms, then don’t let this one slip through your fingers!

We’ve got an interesting collaboration for you guys here today from two East Coast artists. The first is one you’re probably familiar with if you’ve been with us a while: North Carolina producer and musician Cry Wolf. He’s been on our radar for a while now, and actually just signed with Le Castle Vania‘s label, Always Never Records. Having collaborated on this track, which is released through the new label, with local New Jersey producer Aylen. The influence of the two artists blend together in a way that creates a very unique and original sound, almost like an upbeat trancey anthem, except with this deep, churning level of bass-filled filth grumbling below the synth line. And of course you can snag it up FREE! Get at it!
