Designer Drugs & Alvin Risk – “Empty Hearted” [Dubstep//Electro]

Designer Drugs & Alvin Risk - Empty Hearted

Here’s a really awesome combination, and it’s both of them doing what they do best (in my opinion I suppose): good old filthy electro house/dubstep fusion. This track’s called “Empty Hearted” and it comes from two Philly hometown heroes and favorites, Alvin Risk and Designer Drugs Both of these acts were lurking around the Philly underground but a few years ago, but their production prowess has pushed their careers to success, and today we can witness the result of that. So turn that bass up and let this one kick Philly!

Alvin Risk – “Skyclad” [Dubstep//Moombahcore]

Alvin Risk - Skyclad

Alvin Risk never disappoints. And his versatility is undeniable, having played all up and down the bass music spectrum from dubstep, to moombahton, to heavy moombahcore, some electro house and pretty much anything else you can name in the range. Of course, I’m most partial to his dubstep stuff, which is why this new track, “Skyclad” is an absolute delight. Anything OWSLA Records serves up seems to have a really dark and evil feel to it, something Alvin carries through on his tracks really well. It’s definitely seen on his face-melting remix of “Eyes”, but this track has that same dark sinister stomach-twisting feel before it launches a wall of gut-wrenching bass turbulence at you. Head over to iTunes to scoop this one up right away!

Steve Aoki – Wonderland Remixes (13 New Remixes + 2 New Steve Aoki Originals!!)

If you’ve ever seen Steve Aoki live then  you know that this dude likes to party. He’s got to be one of the most energetic producers I’ve ever seen in a live setting, up there with Rusko as well. So anyone that knows how to throw a great party has a lot of friends, and that’s one thing that is definitely true of Steve Aoki. So it’s no surprise that 13 amazing artists, including Alvin RiskTommy TrashLaidback LukeLucky Date, Dillon Francis, Mustard Pimp and Bassnectar, would all want to contribute to this amazing release: the Wonderland Remixes. There are just too many fresh tracks on this album, you gotta listen to it all. The album features house, dubstep and moombahton among other EDM genres and hybrids. This album is wild, get it while it’s hot!! Enjoy!

So the great Camp Bisco is later this week, and we’re starting to get really excited. We’ve put together our personal schedule of all the acts we hope to see while we’re in gorgeous upstate New York for the weekend. We’ve marked all conflicts that we will be unable to attend, but still would like to if there wasn’t a conflict, in (parentheses). Leave comments and let us know about your own picks and what you think of ours! Hopefully we see you up there this weekend!

Alvin Risk – Infinity EP Announcement + “Pray” (New Single)

Alvin Risk is an up and coming producer on the OWSLA label (owned by Skrillex). Buy I want to say, I use “up and coming” very loosely here, because he has been absolutely storming the scene. Alvin’s music is extremely versatile, ranging from electro house to moombahton to dubstep and pretty much everything in between. He’s toured with an opened for such acts as Skrillex, Steve Aoki and Skream & Benga. Now he’s back with some new material for us. He posted on his Facebook today, that his new Infinity EP would be released on OWSLA April 24th. He also released the fourth track from the EP, titled “Pray” and posted the full tracklist. Check it out.

OWSLA Presents: Free Treats Vol. 2

Now, after I heard about this compilation I went searching high and low for the supposed Volume 1; but so far my efforts have yielded zero results. Anyway, OWSLA is Skrillex’s label, based out of California. It is home to such artists as KOAN Sound, Alvin Risk (whom we just posted about), Zedd and Porter Robinson, among others (and Skrillex himself of course). Just today the label released this compilation of all pretty much brand new tracks, and yes, they’re doing it for free. Enjoy!

Fun – “We Are Young (Alvin Risk Remix)”

Alvin Risk is really making a name for himself in the EDM world. And taking on the new single, “We Are Young”, from indie pop band Fun is no small task. Well, Alvin has excelled with flying colors. This song is absolutely electrifying and exudes energy at a ridiculous level. Turn those speakers up and dance!

Holy Ship! Recap

This past January, a group of very lucky people had the joy of experiencing the very first Holy Ship! cruise ever. The cruise went from the US (I believe Miami), down to the Bahamas and featured the likes of: Steve Aoki, Skrillex, Diplo, Boys Noize, Rusko, Laidback Luke, Alvin Risk, Dillon Francis, Zedd and many more. Here at Funkadelphia, we’re just hoping this keeps going; truly one of the most spectacular things to come out of the electronic music explosion.

Holy Ship!Website (2013 Pre-Sale Tickets are on Sale!)

Steve Aoki made this beautiful recap of the cruise for us to enjoy:

Now, so did the official Holy Ship! crew, but you should really watch Aoki’s first; this one just doesn’t quite live up to the standards he set:

Check Out This Tour – Skream&Benga

Here at Funkadelphia we want to do more than just encourage you to expand your musical taste and knowledge… we’re just as much about the experience.

So, we’ve decided to keep you updated with the many opportunities that come and will continue to come your way (let’s face it… it’s a beautiful world we live in!)

Proudly, we present you with the “Check Out This Tour!” Series, starting with dubstep pioneers and powerhouses Skream & Benga.

The duo will be embarking on a US Tour (including an appearance at the massive Ultra Music Festival in Miami, FL)

About the Artist(s):

Skream – Producer out of London, Skream is often credited with being one of the original dubsteppers. His music has greatly influenced the genre and helped in it’s evolution. If you’re not a big fan of the huge wobbles (and basic just overall pandamonium) in a lot of dubstep, Skream might be an artist you want to check out. With a much more stable and consistent sound, Skream certainly does dubstep his own way.

Skream – “Phat Head”

Benga – Also out of London, Benga was no less involved in the beginnings of dubstep than Skream was. The duo are frequent collaborators and in fact, they recently released a free EP on the Scion A/V series. The two are also part of the dubstep supergroup Magnetic Man (Skream, Benga, Artwork) and the trio will also be appearing at Ultra, along with Artwork showing up on many of the duo’s other US tour dates.
