Snippet Sunday #8

Oh man am I excited for this one… I’m excited FOR you guys. Lots of good stuff today. Alright, I’ll start off with the big one: Tipper‘s preview of his upcoming Shatter Box EP. If you’re unfamiliar with Tipper, he’s a UK bass & glitch-hop artist who’s known for his amazing sound design. After giving this mini-mix a listen, which previews snippets of each of the four tracks from the new EP, I think you’ll see what I mean.

Tipper will also be playing at this year’s inaugural City Bisco to be hosted in Philadelphia!! I believe this is his first trip to the City of Brotherly love, so as his joins the stage with the likes of artists such as Diplo and A-Trak, the first week of October, be sure to come out and show your support!

Next we’ve got some real grimy stuff for you guys. Two brand new previews from Calvertron, both of which will appear on his Deconstruction EP, which is due to be released tomorrow!

Calvertron - “Subterrania” (Clip)

.

And we’ll round this one out with some more dirty dubstep for you guys. This one’s from Tim Ismag, who is a relatively small name at the moment, but don’t let that scare you off. This guy can thrown down some grime. This is just a preview of his newest upcoming VIP mix, but it’s a sold two minutes of non-stop filth.

And if you’re liking that, be sure to check out Tim’s I Made This for You EP, out now on Rottun Records! I’ve been loving “Cybernetic Apocalypse Preparation”, and Subdue‘s remix of “I Made This for You” has a really cool, glitch/breaks feel, much like that of KOAN Sound. Be sure to check ‘em out!

Snippet Sunday #7 [NEW DOCTOR P!!!]

Okay so it hasn’t been a huge week as far as previews if we’re talking numbers… BUT, we’ve got brand new Doctor P, and doesn’t everyone always say “quality over quantity”. Typically I think of Doctor P as a really grimy producer (“Big Boss”, his remix of “Sick Tonight”, his remix of “Tetris”, and “Sweet Shop”), but this new track is a more typical classic UK garage dubstep sound. Not really surprising, it seems like a lot of the original grime DJ are giving a backlash to the amount of overkill the scene is giving to the genre. Anyway, it seems Doctor P might have something big in the works for us, for a couple reasons. Flux Pavilion just announced he’s got a bunch of new stuff in the works, and as most of you know, the two of them co-own Circus RecordsOn top of that, Doctor P also just launched his new website along with dropping this preview. Keep in mind I’m just conjecturing on all of this though! Anyway, enjoy new Doctor P!!

Snippet Sunday #6

What a wonderful Sunday morning. I’ve got three new tracks for you today. The first comes from a smaller producer Protohype and is a collaboration between himself and another producer Kezwik on a remix of Static Avenger‘s track “Turn the World On”; it starts off real nice, melodic and bassy, but then drops into some really nice, grimey wobbles. I’m really excited for this one to drop. And if you’re liking that one, check out this track “Problematic” the two also did together (they call themselves Bright Young Minds when collaborating).

Our next preview is an extremely filthy one, and also another collaboration; this time between the mighty SKisM and DC Breaks. SKisM is due to release a new EP series, which he is calling Division on July 16th and this is our first glimpse into that project. Survey says: the future looks good for releases from SKisM.

.

Finally, the last preview of the week comes from Drop Goblin. He called this one a “ska bass” track, and that seems like a pretty good description to me. This track starts off with some really nice, steppy horns and brass before dropping into a filthy dubstep banger that’s sure to make you start steppin’ if you weren’t before. Drop Goblin killed this one; can’t wait for the full release!

Snippet Sunday #5

Alright! We’ve got a huge Snippet Sunday for you guys. New music from DirtyloudZeds Dead and Datsik!!! How’s that sound!! Alright, so if you look at these three artists, it’s not hard to figure out all three of these tracks are gonna be epic and all sorts of filthy. I personally can’t wait for all three of these to drop, but I think I’m anticipating the Datsik remix the most. These remixes feature the likes of Porter Robinson (Dirtyloud), Colin Munroe (Zeds Dead) and Dada Life. So, overall, it’s just sort of hard to deny the amount of talent between these three tracks. Turn those ears up!

Colin Munroe (feat. Pusha T) - “The Fight of My Life (Zeds Dead Remix)” [Preview]

Snippet Sunday #4

Alright, I think I missed a couple of these… so I apologize. But, hey, let me make it up to you guys with a very special one. You see, next Saturday (June 23rd), Funkadelphia is throwing our first party in collaboration with Actual Records. The event is called Satellite Campus and you can get full details HERE. As a celebration, we will be bringing you exclusive tracks, mixes and just other general goodies all week.

Right now, I give to you the preview of Jack Deezl‘s new track “Coast Pt. II”. If you enjoyed the original track, “Coast”, then you’re definitely gonna be diggin’ this one too. Part II brings a much more dubby feel to the track. This is NOT A REMIX. In the past couple weeks, Jack Deezl has actually been dropping this track in full at live performances and it’s been going off. I can’t wait for an official release on this track, just check it out.

Snippet Sunday #3

So unfortunately I’ve only got one track for you this week. The good news, is it’s one heck of a track. I’m sure you’re familiar with the ever grimy California trio Helicopter Showdown. Well earlier this week they released this new preview for a track called “Churched Out”. It’s got that typical Helicopter Showdown stamp of upbeat filth. Just turn up the speakers and let the whompin’ happen. It’s a long enough preview that you can actually get into a bump to for a while.

Snippet Sunday #2

Alright, second edition of Snippet Sunday here, let’s kick this off:

Major Lazer – “Get Free (Andy C Remix)” — This new one from drum & bass legend Andy C is absolutely insane. This is a pretty long preview, but the track is ripped from a BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix that Andy C did. It was first posted on his website a couple days ago, but just an article saying “keep your eyes out for details to follow”. When this get’s released, trust us, you’ll be the first to know.

Evidence – “To Be Continued (Zubsortion Remix)” [PREVIEW] — I think it was just last week we featured that filthy mix from Zubsortion. Well, he just dropped this preview of a new remix of Evidence‘s track “To Be Continued”. This is definitely still a dubstep track, but it’s a pretty unique one. Definitely an interesting song to do a remix of, but it turned out real nice.

*We want to apologize; in our last post on Zubsortion we mentioned that he was a “German producer”. However, this is inaccurate as he is actually Venezuelan!

Snippet Sunday (FIRST EDITION!)

Alright, so we here at Funkadelphia have been pondering a more efficient way to present clips and previews to you guys. It doesn’t seem that every little preview deserves to take up an entire post by itself, yet quite often they are definitely still worth sharing. So, happily, we present you with the FIRST EVER SNIPPET SUNDAY!!!

Every Sunday we will be bringing you the week’s most notable and awesome previews. Just a little glimpse into what we’re waiting and excited for. Let’s kick this thing off!

.

Mt. Eden - “Bang (Helicopter Showdown Remix)” (Clip)

Alright so this next clip comes from the ever ruckus bringing San Francisco trio Helicopter Showdown. I think this tune just screams loud bass, seeing as it’s a Helicopter Showdown remix of a Mt. Eden original, and this track certainly brings the heat. Helicopter Showdown definitely doesn’t disappoint as always, can’t wait for the full track to drop.

Getter - “Get Back” (Clip)

Now if  we’re talking filth, we might as well talk Getter. Especially since he’s got this dope upcoming track “Get Back”. I would definitely have to say this song is extremely heavy, but not in a fast-paced thrash metal sounding sort of way. This track sort of reminds me of Excision and Datsik’s older stuff, like “Swagga”. Definitely check it out.

______________________________________________________________________________

Savoy & Heather Bright - “We Are the Sun” [Teaser]

This is probably the most epic track from New York duo Savoy since last Summer’s track “I’m In Need”. These guys are absolutely filthy, and they’re a group I’ve been dying to see live. A real drum set is always a plus with a electronic act, and the Savoy drummer absolutely dominates it every time. This new track looks to be awesome.

______________________________________________________________________________

Supreme - “Oh Boy” (Preview)

Closing us out our first ever (and I believe, quite successful) Snippet Sunday, we bring you a nice wobbly tune from Supreme. This song’s good for listening if you’re just feelin’ like you got some straight swag going on. I’m sure its good for raging to, but this is one that I like to just sit and bob along with. Enjoy!

Doctor P - “Neon (Jack Deezl & Pudgey Malone Remix)” (Preview)

So if you couldn’t already tell, Jack Deezl is definitely one of our favorite local artists. He still hasn’t quite hit the big time, but he’s getting there and we’d like to see him make it happen. With a really unique style that incorporates elements of glitch-hop and general noise, the Philly DJ has teamed up with other local artist Pudgey Malone to absolutely dominate this remix. This is another one I’m just counting down the days for a release.
