So we just posted the Sonic Bloom 2013 lineup and festival announcement, and among their list of incredible artists is a man that has been doing up the breakbeat game for a long time now. I am of course referring to the great ill.Gates. The San Francisco native producer has done work with many incredible producers, including the mighty Bassnectar, as well as Beats Antique, Samples, Opiuo, Datsik and plenty more. I think that list of collaborations actually gives a good representation of ill.Gates’ versatility and production prowess. He covers anything from dubstep, to glitch-hop, to straight breakbeat, hip-hop beats, and just about anything in between. He’s giving away this new “Re:Mix:Tape” completely FREE, which is truly an anomaly as the mix is packed full of fresh, bassed-out tunes.

Now we can’t go spreading the love to all our Philadelphia fans without sharing some good old fashioned local Philadelphia music. So allow us to take over your ear drums for the next 17 minutes with this insane mix from local DJ and producer DigitalNature. Still very new to the scene, DigitialNature is showing he means nothing but business. With a slew of impressive original production tracks up on his Soundcloud, he certainly demonstrates his knowledge in the production booth. But this mix also shows off an incredible ability to throw together gnarly track after gnarly track, into a bass-ridden mix that’ll leave you begging for more. The passed year and a half have been absolutely amazing for all of us here at Funkadelphia, and it’s all a big thanks to you guys: the fans. Today we met a feat that we weren’t sure we would, but once again you guys came through with a ton of love. At 698 articles posted, we reached the 700 “Like” milestone on our Facebook page before we posted our 700th article. So we’ve got a big thank you for you guys. We share a lot of music here, whether it be local, national, and even sometimes international. But it’s important to stay true to your roots, and for us, that means staying true to the local talent that got us to where we are today. So we got up with the homie Scraps McGee, who just dropped his new track “Peesh”, and as a result, we’ve also got this awesome new mix from the Philadelphia producer and DJ. FREE new track and a 30 minute mix of trappy goodness; I’m not sure it gets much better than that. Alright, so we’ve got a new, old mix from the man himself, Tipper. It’s from back in 2006, but the British producer and DJ just uploaded it to his Soundcloud for easy access. Easily one of the most unique musicians out there in terms of sound, Tipper has been raising a lot of eyebrows recently; not to say that he wasn’t before, but it seems he’s finally coming to national recognition here in the United States. This brand new mix is a clear exhibit as to why; as you can hear from his music, he’s one of the most technical sound designers, as well as one of the world’s most highly demanded sound engineers. His sound is near magical, and certainly mysterious, not to mention blending DJ skills belonging to that of a true master of his trade.

It’s one of those yucky rainy days out, and I feel I need a lot of angry bass to help get me through. If you’ve ever ventured down to Baltimore or DC for a show, you’re probably familiar with 2Rip, but if not, then yes, he’s DC based; and one thing we’ve come to learn about DJs from Philly’s sister cities- Baltimore, DC, NYC- it is that they sure as heck know how to throw down. Admittedly, we’ve been experiencing some internet technical difficulties here today; but it’s still technically Mix Monday, and this is a mix that absolutely can’t be ignored, so let’s get to it. Along with announcing a new tour (after literally just finishing up his Brain Waves Tour), which he’s calling Adventures In Time and Space- see Full Tour Dates Here!- the drumstep bass destroyer from Indiana known as Figure released a promo mix to go along with the tour. It clocks in at just over 20 minutes, but man did Figure cram a lot in here: there’s 5 new original tracks, a remix of his track “Must Destroy” from Droptek, plenty of the classics and a couple dashes of other tracks to keep it all fresh. Even nicer is you can download the entire mix completely FREE!! Mark your calendars people, because FIGURE’s coming to town!!

As you may have already guessed, we at Funkadelphia love funky, soulful vibes in our EDM. Today, up-and-coming Wisconsin producer Artifakts gave us a great little mini-mix with a whole lot of funk, and plenty of soul! This 15 minute mix is his entry into a contest for a spot in Wisconsin’s Winter Warmer Music Festival January 11th, and even though we won’t be making it to many festivals until the summer, this mix is getting me very excited for the upcoming festival season! After joining Pretty Lights for part of the Illumination Tour, Artifakts has proven he can throw down with the best, and I am hoping we will all get a chance to see him around the festival circuit this summer! The mini-mix is available to stream below, but if Artifakts wins the contest, it will also be available for FREE DOWNLOAD! There’s really one true way to say thanks sincerely, and Happpy Holidays to all our followers. How’s that? Well how about a solid 2 hours of bass destruction from Philadelphia DJ and producer, Dubsef. This mix is totally
