STS9 – Wakarusa 2013 Main Stage Set (FREE DL!!) [Jam//Electronic]

If you made it to Wakarusa a couple weeks ago, or even if you couldn’t make the trip to Mulberry Mountain, we have just the thing for you today! Sound Tribe Sector 9, or simply STS9, had two scheduled sets for the festival, but due to severe weather and storm watches both sets were cut short. To make up for the disappointment, STS9 decided today to release their Main Stage set from the first day for FREE download, and this set definitely will not disappoint! Even though this is only half of their scheduled set, it has plenty of range, and plenty of energy to get you excited for what they have in store for the remainder of their very busy festival season. So now’s the time to sit back, relax, and enjoy this free gift as a thank you to everyone who came out and survived the weather of “Swamparusa”!!

This one managed to slip passed us doing our travels to Arkansas, but it’s an undeniably awesome track from an undeniably awesome producer. Russ Liquid has found his way on to our radars, and for good reason. The 1320 Records artist has been making a lot of noise with his production, which tends to crossover between dubstep and glitch-hop. This new track, “Butterfly Moonlight” is a FREE one from the California; nice and chilled out, but plenty of wubs and wobs to get you going. Enjoy!

With the Summer of 2013′s festival season now in full gear, we have effectively have a hefty list of local and national festivals we’re looking forward to with serious intensity. One of the most anticipated for us would have to be this year’s Big Dub Music Festival, held at Four Quarter’s Farm in Artemas, Pennsylvania. This year’s lineup features an eclectic group of everything from filthy dubstep, to mellowed out hip-hop beats, the trans-versing goodnesss of glitch-hop, and just about any other variation on the genre you might be able to name. One of these acts we’re truly excited to see is the mighty production duo in action once again. The Atlanta-based act has been hard at work lately, dropping plenty of awesome new remixes for the Summer festival season, keeping their sets refreshing, and just plain fresh. This one’s another FREE download, courtesy of that good ol’ Southern hospitality!

Schlang is the new collaborative project from Philadelphia producer Space Jesus and his partner in crime, Boston producer Supersillyus. The two have come together the bring us a truly unique and mind-awakening project that’s sure to leave the mind drifting through space. Schlang has just released a teaser for their first track, “Plus or Minus”, as well as a group of tour dates for this Summer. Now this song is supposedly close to a full 10 minutes, so this 5 minute preview is just a small glimpse into the psychedelic adventure that awaits us. Enjoy!

The electronic music world has been progressing in strides lately, and it’s given way to some of the most incredible tunes probably to ever grace the ears of mankind. Well Australian producer Flume is officially checking in with a solid contribution. At this year’s Wakarusa Music Festival, we heard this first track dropped on crowds multiple times, much to everyone’s pleasure. It’s a brand new- and FREE!- edit of Rustie track “Slasherr”, and features of bass-blasting trap feel that’s undeniably feel-good. Then just this morning he hit us with yet another one, a remix of a Disclosure track, this time featuring a more downtempo and glitch-hop feel, but still tons of energy and plenty of groovy-ness. We’ve been on the road a while now, and it’s always awesome to come home to a lot of great, new music. I want to kick this off with a brand new one from Philadelphia producer Tilsonic. When we first heard of this guy, he was putting out a few releases for Glitch Squad, but he’s since made it clear that’s he’s more than just a member of the collective, and instead a force to be reckoned with. It’s going to be impossible to not groove to this new remix, and for goodness sake people it’s FREE! So turn those speakers up and get jamming!

This is definitely a digression into something much more mellow and different then we’re used to. But London producer Jon Hopkins is impossible to ignore, with a deep beating, minimal style that takes his audiences on a journey with each and every track. With the announcement of his new album, Immunity, which will be happening June 4th. Jon Hopkins’ music is slow to build, but impossible to not be drawn into. With a dynamic array of constantly shifting, appearing and disappearing layers, he creates a musical canvas that simply begs your mind to become lost in. This new track, “Open Eye Signal” is our little glimpse into what the new album holds.

It’s time to get back on the local music track. And there could not be a better way then with this hot new two-tack Earth Eyes EP from one of our Philly favorites, Speaker for the Dead. It’s always good to have constant reminders of how hard the Philadelphia collective Glitch Squad is killing it, and it’s impossible to not be reminded with how often these guys are putting out amazing new material. “Earth Eyes” definitely takes the cake for me here, a high-energy trapped out track with still a large amount of glitch-hop stylings and an overall unique perspective on the genre that gives it that true future bass feel we have come to love and expect from Glitch Squad. That being said, do not even think about skipping over “Escape Velocity”. And what better reason not to than that this EP is FREE like almost all of Glitch Squad’s music. Enjoy!!

Empire of the Sun

This is a name I have actually been seeing on a surprisingly good amount of festival lineups this Summer: Empire of the Sun. I guess it makes good sense though considering they have officially announced the release of their full-length new album, Ice on the Dune, for June 18th this Summer. If you aren’t too familiar with the Australian electronic rock act, they got some talk going with their debut album Walking on a Dream in 2008, most notably their songs “Walking on a Dream” - which many of you would probably recognize as the sample from Wiz Khalifa‘s “The Thrill” – and “We Are the People”. I will have to also personally recommend “Half Mast”, my personal favorite from the first album. Empire of the Sun is also known for their great outfits, which they can be seen wearing in almost all their music videos as well as at each performance. As I said, this Summer they will be taking the stage alongside Passion Pit quite a few times, which I think is appropriate, giving I have always sort of seen Empire of the Sun as a Passion Pit and MGMT fusion. So we just posted the Sonic Bloom 2013 lineup and festival announcement, and among their list of incredible artists is a man that has been doing up the breakbeat game for a long time now. I am of course referring to the great ill.Gates. The San Francisco native producer has done work with many incredible producers, including the mighty Bassnectar, as well as Beats Antique, Samples, Opiuo, Datsik and plenty more. I think that list of collaborations actually gives a good representation of ill.Gates’ versatility and production prowess. He covers anything from dubstep, to glitch-hop, to straight breakbeat, hip-hop beats, and just about anything in between. He’s giving away this new “Re:Mix:Tape” completely FREE, which is truly an anomaly as the mix is packed full of fresh, bassed-out tunes.
