Calvertron – 50,000 Watts EP [Dubstep//Drumstep]

Calvertron - 50,000 Watts EP

Here’s a release I have literally been on the edge of my seat waiting for, for quite some time. And oh my has Calvertron delivered, exceeding expectations and taking his bass game to a whole other level once again. With his new 50,000 Watts EP he covers everything from his classic heavy dubstep assaults, plenty of hopping moombahcore, some head-banging drumstep and drum & bass, and even some really effective trap and trapstep. Calvertron is one producer I feel I can absolutely always count on to deliver the filth. Please, I urge you, pick up this EP. We’ve got a few clips for you below, but you aren’t doing yourself justice unless you grab this release.

DirtyPhonics – Irreverence [Dubstep//Electro]

Dirtyphonics - Irreverence

Bass heads unite!! This one has been in the works for quite some time now and I’m sure you are all just as excited as we are. Dirtyphonics has finally released their newest album Irreverence and the result is face-smashing. This UK production duo  really knows how to bring the heat, and in a lot of different ways. They incorporate plenty of live instrumentation, whether it be piano, bass, or guitar. But what really shows through on this album is their versatility. After a grimey tear through the heavy bass scene, Dirtyphonics puts this album out to show their abilities in not only the dubstep region, but also electro house, drum & bass, and just about any other bass heavy genre in between. The two-piece production team certainly has plenty of incredible talent to show off on their new record as well, including appearances Foreign  Beggars and Modestep. This is one massive bass album here!!

Designer Drugs & Alvin Risk – “Empty Hearted” [Dubstep//Electro]

Designer Drugs & Alvin Risk - Empty Hearted

Here’s a really awesome combination, and it’s both of them doing what they do best (in my opinion I suppose): good old filthy electro house/dubstep fusion. This track’s called “Empty Hearted” and it comes from two Philly hometown heroes and favorites, Alvin Risk and Designer Drugs Both of these acts were lurking around the Philly underground but a few years ago, but their production prowess has pushed their careers to success, and today we can witness the result of that. So turn that bass up and let this one kick Philly!

Architekt – “Death Gong Mix” (FREE DL!!) [Dubstep/Bass]

Architekt - Death Gong Mix

The holidays are here and I couldn’t be more excited about this beautiful Saturday that awaits us. But it’s always good to get your day kicking. So while you’re sparking that first bowl, or joint, or whatever else you got there, be sure to crank up this mix for some bass goodness. Philadelphia producer and DJ, Architekt has been on his game lately, and this mix is a true testament to that. He slams disgusting track into disgusting track, with plenty of your favorite filthy bass tunes, as well as a few surprises and, of course, plenty of personal production. Enjoy!

Space Jesus – “Moon Rock” (FREE DL!!) [Dubstep//Electro]

Space Jesus

So Space Jesus hits The Blockley tonight with his LIVE setup, along with Biodiesel and Greenhouse LoungeThe local producer and DJ has been lighting up crowds lately with his performances, but tonight Philly is the first to peek Jasha Tull’s live show. In celebration of the tour, he decided to kick the public a FREE track, most likely part of an upcoming new album, called “Moon Rock”.  It starts off with an upbeat almost electronica sound, but quickly delves into some electro house style dubbyness, with psychedelic synths, of course, melding across the track.

Noise Monkey – 3 New Tracks!! (FREE DL!!) [Dubstep//Electro]

noisemonkey

When I wrote the genres in the brackets for this post, it took me a while to decide how I should classify these three new tracks . Local Philly producer The Noise Monkey caught our attention a while ago with his unique sound he simply calls “Monkeystep”, and with every new track he puts out he touches so many different sounds and styles, I think the name is very fitting. The first song is his entry into Zomboy‘s “Here to Stay” remix contest, and if you are diggin’ that Monkeystep, be sure you give this Philly native a vote starting April 9! The other two songs are both refreshing and uplifting, yet still have that perfect amount of funk and filth. They were posted as FREE downloads that seem to be sparked by the cold weather and the anticipation of spring, and they sure are getting me excited for the coming months! Also, we’ve included The Noise Monkey’s recent remix of Au5, Auratic, and I.Y.F.F.E.‘s “Lucky”, which is sure to satisfy any craving for funk you may have had! Now sit back and enjoy these great tunes to keep getting more pumped for FESTIVAL SEASON!!

And if you like what you hear, be sure to check out his soundcloud as it’s filled with loads of other great (and FREE!!) tracks!

Yeah Yeah Yeahs – “Gold Lion (Vanic Remix)” (FREE DLs!!) + Bonuses!! [Dubstep//Bass]

Vanic

Alright, so who here knows Vanic!? It’s alright if you don’t, I was unfamiliar myself, but that tune’s about to change because this Vancouver producer knows how to lay down some tunes. He’s got a hard-hitting, yet still quite melodic style, somewhat along the lines of artists like Adventure Club, Seven Lions or Sound Remedy, but he also delves into the heavy a bit more at times. On top of that his song selection for remixes is absolutely impeccable, but not only that, he also delivers absolute fire each time he chooses a song to take on. Then there’s the matter of his originals, which are just as satisfying. We’ve put together a nice little collection of his tracks here, including his BRAND NEW remix of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs‘ track “Gold Lion”. Enjoy!

2013 Festival Preview: Sasquatch – Full Lineup Announcement!!

Sasquatch2013

I’m going to talk to you today about one of the most coveted festivals out there in my mind. It could be partially just because it takes place in beautiful upstate Washington, all the way on the other side of the county; but it almost might have to do in part with the absolutely jaw-dropping lineups the festival puts together each year. This year The Postal Service, The xx, Sigur Ros and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis sit amongst the highest names on the lineup, followed by a stunning list of supporting artists including Primus, Arctic Monkeys, Cake, Azealia Banks, Bloc Party, Andrew Bird, Built to Spill, Shad, Japandroids, Baauer, Youth Lagoon, Baths, Radical Face, ODESZA, Holy Ghost!, Shout Out Louds, Matthew Dear, Surfer Blood, Lusine and plenty more. You can catch all these artists from May 24th-27th (that’s Memorial Day Weekend!). And thiis year promises to be as amazing as any other in the magnificent Gorge home to the Sasquatch Music Festival. We hope to make it there; and even if we can’t, maybe some of our followers will make the amazing journey!

2013 Festival Preview: Electric Forest – Full, Official Lineup Announcement!!

E Forest 2013

Last week in our festival preview we discussed one of the titans: Coachella. Well this week, we’ve got the lineup for another indisputably mighty name when it comes to the music festival world. Yes, I’m talking of course about Electric Forest, up in beautiful Rothbury, Michigan. The festival is put on each year by one of the oldest (and easily most classic) jam bands in the game: The String Cheese Incident. If you don’t know about these guys- especially if you enjoy jam music- you need to get out to a show; and The Forest is the perfect opportunity, offering a show from the Boulder, Colorado group all three nights of the festival. Not to mention an incredible supporting lineup, including Pretty Lights, Passion Pit, Knife Party, Lotus, Beats Antique, A-Trak, Grimes, Holy Ghost!, EOTO, Kill the Noise, Emancipator, Baauer, NOISIA, Michal Menert, Suckerpunch, Up Until Now, Moon Hooch, Helicopter Showdown, and yes, plenty more (not to mention that wonderful side not of “plus more to be announced”). I know we’re hoping to make this our first trip to the forest, and we certainly hope to see some friendly faces there!
