This one managed to slip passed us doing our travels to Arkansas, but it’s an undeniably awesome track from an undeniably awesome producer. Russ Liquid has found his way on to our radars, and for good reason. The 1320 Records artist has been making a lot of noise with his production, which tends to crossover between dubstep and glitch-hop. This new track, “Butterfly Moonlight” is a FREE one from the California; nice and chilled out, but plenty of wubs and wobs to get you going. Enjoy!
Schlang is the new collaborative project from Philadelphia producer Space Jesus and his partner in crime, Boston producer Supersillyus. The two have come together the bring us a truly unique and mind-awakening project that’s sure to leave the mind drifting through space. Schlang has just released a teaser for their first track, “Plus or Minus”, as well as a group of tour dates for this Summer. Now this song is supposedly close to a full 10 minutes, so this 5 minute preview is just a small glimpse into the psychedelic adventure that awaits us. Enjoy!
We’ve been on the road a while now, and it’s always awesome to come home to a lot of great, new music. I want to kick this off with a brand new one from Philadelphia producer Tilsonic. When we first heard of this guy, he was putting out a few releases for Glitch Squad, but he’s since made it clear that’s he’s more than just a member of the collective, and instead a force to be reckoned with. It’s going to be impossible to not groove to this new remix, and for goodness sake people it’s FREE! So turn those speakers up and get jamming!
This is definitely a digression into something much more mellow and different then we’re used to. But London producer Jon Hopkins is impossible to ignore, with a deep beating, minimal style that takes his audiences on a journey with each and every track. With the announcement of his new album, Immunity, which will be happening June 4th. Jon Hopkins’ music is slow to build, but impossible to not be drawn into. With a dynamic array of constantly shifting, appearing and disappearing layers, he creates a musical canvas that simply begs your mind to become lost in. This new track, “Open Eye Signal” is our little glimpse into what the new album holds.
It’s time to get back on the local music track. And there could not be a better way then with this hot new two-tack Earth Eyes EP from one of our Philly favorites, Speaker for the Dead. It’s always good to have constant reminders of how hard the Philadelphia collective Glitch Squadis killing it, and it’s impossible to not be reminded with how often these guys are putting out amazing new material. “Earth Eyes” definitely takes the cake for me here, a high-energy trapped out track with still a large amount of glitch-hop stylings and an overall unique perspective on the genre that gives it that true future bass feel we have come to love and expect from Glitch Squad. That being said, do not even think about skipping over “Escape Velocity”. And what better reason not to than that this EP is FREE like almost all of Glitch Squad’s music. Enjoy!!
So we just posted the Sonic Bloom 2013lineup and festival announcement, and among their list of incredible artists is a man that has been doing up the breakbeat game for a long time now. I am of course referring to the great ill.Gates. The San Francisco native producer has done work with many incredible producers, including the mighty Bassnectar, as well as Beats Antique, Samples, Opiuo, Datsik and plenty more. I think that list of collaborations actually gives a good representation of ill.Gates’ versatility and production prowess. He covers anything from dubstep, to glitch-hop, to straight breakbeat, hip-hop beats, and just about anything in between. He’s giving away this new “Re:Mix:Tape” completely FREE, which is truly an anomaly as the mix is packed full of fresh, bassed-out tunes.
Okay, so I am here today to deliver the welcoming news of a beautiful festival, in the far away amazing world of Colorado. That festival would be Sonic Bloom, and while it may be a bit of a track for our Philadelphia readers, the festival represents an aspect of the electronic music that we don’t see a lot of representation for here in The City of Brotherly Love. The lineup displays a wide array of music that could be classified as anywhere from psy-trance, to dub, glitch-hop, electrofunk, simply bass, or just about anything else in that spectrum that comes to mind. The festival will be taking place from June 13th-16th this Summer, in it’s homespot of Shadow’s Ranch in Georgetown Colorado. With a whopping array of artists including Opiuo, VibeSquaD, Random Rab, Minnesota, The Polish Ambassador, Bluetech, Orchard Lounge, Phutureprimitive, TRUTH, Andreilien (previously known as Heyoka), ill.Gates, Wick-It the Instigator, Love & Light, Govinda, Thriftworks, Robotic Pirate Moneky, Unlimited Aspect (Unlimited Gravity and Project Aspect), Russ Liquid, Cry Wolf and still plenty more, this festival bleeds an amazing time. Just check out the 2012 festival recap below, as well as a featured playlist with music from artists exclusively on the 2013 lineup!! And be sure to hurry up because tickets are going fast!
I could not be more hype about posting this. The North Carolina based production duo, known as Archnemesis, just dropped this fresh new remix on the world. It’s a throwback of a tune, but with a hot new glitch-hop spin on it. The City of Brotherly Love has been blessed to host these guys twice in the passed year, most recently at Red Sky, and it’s safe to say these guys really know what they’re doing behind the decks. And of course you know we’ve got you on the FREE download! Kick out the jams!!
Make way for some local music!! JXLBeats left us absolutely stunned with his first release, the I Go Where the Trees Go EP. The Philadelphia producer demonstrated his ability to play with trap and trill elements to create beautiful soundscapes made for sunny day chilling. Well today we are happy to present you with the follow-up, The Art of the Chop EP. It’s got 8 new tracks of beating goodness, and a whole lot to offer. If you like it gangster, then check out “Robberies, Aggies, Attempts and Extortion”; if you like it funky, then I’ll have to recommend “Make Your Bread”; and if you like it chill, well you’ve got the rest of the EP to choose from. So turn that bass up, let the 808s kick, and let JXLBeats ride you off into the blue skies.
I’m here today to talk to you about a very talented Philadelphia producer that has caught my ear lately. Elephant Blue experiments with the chiller side of electronic, producing tunes that range anywhere from minimal, to glitch, to downtempo, to hip-hop and just about any other genre you could think to bring into the fusion. Elephant Blue just dropped his new track “Mind Mazes”- for FREE! mind you- but I’ve put together a couple tracks here to truly showcase his style and variance within it. If you’re looking for some chill, spacey beats, look no further.
