City Bisco: A Festival in Review

Something really special seems to happen when you bring together several awesome jam bands, a couple really great DJ’s and producers, and hundreds of fans waiting to hear some incredible music. This passed weekend, October 5th and 6th, that’s exactly what City Bisco did here in Philadelphia. With The Disco Biscuits headlining and curating the festival, of course, the festival offered an incredible bill of acts, ranging from up and coming jam bands such as Papadosioto some of the most technically skilled and overall simply impressive DJ’s in the scene at the moment, whether they big up and comers such as Tipper, Ott, Cinnamon Chasers, or those already sitting high, including Diplo, A-Trak, Aeroplane and RJD2. Let’s talk about the venue though: The Mann Center. The structure is already probably one of the most beautiful venues has to offer as far as architecture, and the sound in the place is simply amazing. Not only this, but it also offers general seating, plenty of lawn space, and even an upper level balcony, which allowed for an excellent view of The Biscuits’ incredible light show. On top of this, the venue also offered a second, separate stage to the festival-goers atop the hill that The Mann sits below. This other stage opened up the venue larger than its usual boundaries, allowing for a must more fulfilling experience and great separation of sound between the two stages. And even while this was definitely a smaller venue, it still gave way to several guest vendors including Grassroots CaliforniaOverall, it was a great festival experience and truly a pleasure for it to be hosted here in the city of Philadelphia. I hope The Disco Biscuits at least consider building on this and bringing the festival back next year for an even greater weekend of dancing and fun.
