Aquadrop – Synthesized Landscapes from Future EP [Dub//Glitch-Hop]

If you’re looking for something really funky and new, then look no further. Local label Seclusiasis (owned and operated by Starkey and Dev79) released this one from Italian producer Aquadrop a little more than a week ago, and it managed to almost slip by me. I’m glad it didn’t though, because this is one heck of a statement. I’ve labelled the Synthesized Landscapes from Future EP as a mixture of dub and glitch-hop, but I don’t feel these two fully can even represent what Aquadrop has done with the release. The treble range on each song is extremely complex, with whirling bubble synths, 808 snares clapping, and a bass that is offbeat in just that perfect way. This is truly one of those releases you have to listen to, to fully understand the sound. So on that note, I’m going to wrap up and let you guys click play!

We posted a real, real nice trap mix by Maskuerade not too long ago. Well, now we have an actual track from the California producer: a collaborative track between himself and another up and comer, DURD3N. Together these two have put together quite the hot hit. Trap’s been catching on, but there are still always going to be those artists that set themselves aside from the pack by not just doing what everyone else is doing, but by instead by constantly trying to set a new level of quality for their genre. This is what Maskuerade and DURD3N have done on this track; they didn’t just go with a cookie-cutter sound, they did some new and original. The even better news is that they’re giving it away to us FOR FREE! Enjoy!!

Pudgey Malone – “Dundilly” [Dubstep]

So Pudgey Malone just dropped this new one on us. If you’re unfamiliar with Pudgey, he’s a Philadelphia producer who’s been bringing some serious heat lately. You probably know him best, through us, for his remix of “Neon” by Doctor P; a collaboration track he did with one of our favorites, Jack Deezl. Anyway, this new track is done solo, but it’s still absolutely fire. Pudgey Malone has got some deeeeep bass; and I mean deep. Not long after your ears get adjusted to that, he brings in some nasty horns to get you wobblin’ like a broken rocking horse. We’re told (yes, by Pudgey himself) that he’s got a brand new EP in the works as well; one where he’ll be working with DJ Hadji Beats (we recently posted his, It’s a Trap EP)! So be sure to keep your eyes out for that! In the meantime, enjoy this!

I know I’ve already said this a bunch of times, but I’m just still amazed with how quickly trap has taken over. Our latest example comes from one of our favorite local producers: Jack Deezl. We’ve been featuring this guy since the very beginning, and the reason is simple; he’s always killing it on his tracks. Not only that, but he has to be one of the most entertaining producers to see live in the city as his sets are consistently comprised of all original production. Even moreson, his sound is always a bit experimental. Jack Deezl doesn’t fall into any norms of a straight dubstep producer, a trap producer or even glitch-hop producer, but instead he combines all the elements of these genres as well as incorporating more. On to talking about this new remix: it’s definitely a trap track, as exhibited but that always delightful 808 snare and some extremely deep bass; but Jack Deezl has manipulated the bass and deeper tones in the song to take that traditional hip-hop feel and replace it with more a glitch-hop sound. And aside from that, this is, of course, a remix of the BRAND NEW CRYSTAL CASTLES track! Enjoy!!

It was not long ago that Minnesota was in Philadelphia. In fact, it was during his set that we heard this track for the first time. If you’re not familiar with Minnesota’s original remix of this track (also available for FREE download), then you’re probably not familiar with Minnesota at all. And if you’re not familiar with Minnesota… then… well, what are you doing? We’re just playing around; but seriously, this new track is absolutely awesome. The young and talented Boulder, Colorado producer puts a new spin on his already legendary remix. Enjoy!

This is actually the first post we’ve done on local producer MitiS, and admittedly this one’s long overdue. I’m glad he dropped this new track today because it was just the excuse I needed to bring this Philadelphia producer’s filth to your ears (if you weren’t already aware of him). He just played the Reid Speed show a little more than a week ago, and he’ll also be throwing down with KDrew on Friday, August 10th. MitiS’ sound is definitely heavy; there’s no way around that fact. But we love heavy, and MitiS knows how to deliver well. This guy’s really on top of his game, and this new remix just made my speakers implode, so I’m going to let to you guys listen while I go to Best Buy. Enjoy!

Yeah, we’re not done yet. Like I said, this post is long, long overdue. I’m also putting forth his Influential Past EP. Primarily because I want to highlight to the album’s opening track: “Parting”. The track hits with a wall of bass that somewhat reminds me of Gemini‘s “Elevate”, yet MitiS clearly has a unique grasp on the concept and has added in some delightful synths and keys dancing around in the background. “Parting” is definitely an appropriate title for this track; go at it!

Bloc Party – “Day Four” (New Single!) [Indie//Rock]

Bloc Party has been making quite a few festival appearances this Summer, which is exciting because it could mean a full tour in the Fall or Winter. This is, of course, reinforced by the fact that their new album, to be titled Four, is due for realease on August 20th. All things considered, it seems likely, and I’ve been dying to see these guys so it would be a pleasant, pleasant surprise. Nonetheless, what you really want to know about is this new song they just released. It’s called “Day Four”, and I can say I bet the band was pretty darn happy with themselves when they posted this on their Soundcloud “11 hours ago”. This track is AMAZING. It’s honestly probably some of Bloc Party’s best work. I will admit, the beginning seemed a bit odd and out of focus for the band’s sound the first time I listened to it, but after a few more run overs it really starts to grow on you. Either way, once the song hits that 2 minute mark it turns into that drulling bass and guitar line jamming out in the background that just seems to dance all around your head. This song manages to maintain such a clear essence of what Bloc Party is and has been as a band, while showing momentous strides as far as musical growth and progressive ideas. It bodes well for the new album in general, but right now, I’m perfectly content jamming on this.. Seriously. Give this one a listen.

So we’ve kind of just been relaxing today, slowly getting ready for the show tonight; and this song has been serving us quite well thus far. Night Manager is a lo-fi band from New York City that has been rocking it lately, at least in our minds. These guys actually came down to Philadelphia just a few weeks ago for a show, and I have to say it was one of the most enjoyable rock/pop/whatever you whilst call it shows I’ve been to in a while. Their sound is extremely smooth, and Caitlin Seager’s vocals just drift over the melodies in an almost lulling way. The most comparable thing I could put them to, this song especially, is probably Beach House. Nonetheless, I think you guys should give this song a listen, it’s a great Summer jam. Enjoy!

Well this showed up on D!RTY AUD!O‘s Soundcloud today, marked as “moombahtrap”. Needless to say, I was quite curious. After giving it a listen, I can safely say that this is certainly an interesting concept. I’m not as big a fan of this as I am of the “trapstep” stuff, but hey, it’s still pretty darn good; and I’m sure all you moombah-heads will get quite the kick out of it! I was a bit turned off by the first half of this song (primarily the first 3 minutes), as it had a much more moombahton based approach to the remix. But then somewhere a bit after that 3 minute mark, D!RTY AUD!O throws down one of the dirtiest trap drops I’ve heard to date. All I’m saying is, if you’re like me and not a huge moombah fan, stick this song through to the very end because it changes up! And hey, if you do like moombah and the beginning of this song, that go ahead and enjoy the heck out that too!

I’ve always been a really big fan of the Boston dubstep trip that is Terravita. Ever since I heard their remix of “Avril 14th” by Aphex Twin (we’ve also featured their track “Faceless Butcher” and remix of “Teach Me How to Dougie”) I was completely hooked. These guys can dish out the grime like no other. Being totally honest, they’ve got some of the nicest wobbles in the game too. Terravita mixes these elements of heavy dubstep filth while still maintaining a real good element of melodic goodness to back it up. I think this track is a perfect showcase for what I’m saying. Terravita absolutely destroys it on this track, get on that FREE DOWNLOAD!!
